Eco consciousness is an important criteria in modern business and even though we’re sometimes not sure of a fashion brand’s strategies of leaving less of a carbon footprint (ie: lack of dyed fabrics, use of organic fibres), we appreciate it when it strives for a rustic look at the very least. Toni Francesc’s ‘Urban Forest’ collection for Spring 2011 did just that, with raw and enveloping pieces sent down the runway. Colours lent toward the neutral with plenty of greys, whites and beiges occasionally contrasted with corals, turquoises and, naturally, greens. While some gowns were flowing and feminine, others were more sculptural, and the full collection complemented with recycled jewellery from accessories name-to-watch, Nashelle.
