Suffering from wanderlust as you return to work weary from the Christmas break? As though they already knew, TravelManagers Australia, the operators of a network of over 285 personal travel managers across the country, have released their predictions for the top trends in travel for 2011.
Safaris and river cruising are set to be the most popular travel activities this year. Yet despite the increasing simplicity of booking everything online – from tours to flights to accommodation – it is predicted that in 2011 travellers will be more likely to book through a travel agent.
Multigenerational travel will also continue to rise (perhaps along with rate of familial estrangement). Travel will also be predominantly driven by educational interests or because of a destination’s filmic notoriety (think ‘Eat Pray Love’ and its driving of lovelorn punters toward Bali).
The predicted winning destinations include New Zealand, China, Macchu Picchu and Berlin. So much for the road less travelled…
