A cooler blend of culture

Turn your Big Day Out memories into big fat prizes

Twenty years is big bickies on the festival circuit, and Big Day Out are proud to announce that next year marks their 20th Anniversary. That’s two decades of frigging great music brought to you year after year by the trusty BDO crew. Music acts as diverse as Nirvana, The Violent Femmes, and You Am I (all performed in the first year) and Iggy Pop, Wolfmother, and M.I.A (who performed earlier this year) have had the pleasure of sharing a BDO bill.

Now, while we can’t give you even a smidgen of a hint of who’s playing at next year’s Big Day Out – and there will be a host of huge names, both veteran and fresh – we can say that the folks at BDO are already getting a little nostalgic in the lead-up to it. In fact, while rummaging through their vaults, they came up with a rather clever idea for a competition: get you, the ardent patrons to rifle through your own memory-laden vaults and send stuff in to try and win a massive prize pack. In short, if you managed to hold onto any poster art, programs, set lists, t-shirts or other merchandise, or indeed footage on video or still shots of you and your mates large-ing it up, send it along and be in the running to win (drum roll please): two tickets to the 2012 Big Day Out, a Motorola smartphone, a $500 gift voucher from General Pants, a Converse pack of shoes, a t-shirt, hoodie and socks, case of Lipton Iced Tea, case of V Energy Drink, and five rock’n’roll coffee table books courtesy of Hachette Australia. Ten runners-up will each win 10 CDs of various Big Day Out 2011 acts.

Send your souvenirs of previous Big Day Out festivals (ie: a picture or link) to bigdayoutblog@gmail.com no later than 11.59pm AEST Wednesday 29 June. The best entries will be posted on Facebook as they roll in.
