A cooler blend of culture

Marilyn Manson and Citroën deliver an advertising first

We know Marilyn Manson has had is wicked way with other artists by covering their songs in a creepy manner – be it the Eurythmics or Gaga, he always goes that one step further in twisting the ethos. But when an established auto brand like Citroën takes a Manson tune and turns into a symphonic soundtrack for their latest ad campaign, you know we’re truly living in the postmodern age.

To promote the brand’s new model DS5, the kooky Manson track Doll-Dagga Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag is played out by a full orchestra, bridging alternative music and the classical rather brilliantly. Brilliant, too, are the images, with Citroën delivering a first in still images that actually move. No, they are not videos, they are still pictures that contain slight elements that move and are dubbed ‘cinemagraphs’. To see what all the fuss is about, click here or to view and hear a French version of the ad, step this way. If this campaign is anything to go by, we’re going to see some exciting changes to advertising online soon.
