Outdoor music festivals don’t get much bigger than the Big Day Out, and the 2013 BDO is set to be the grandest yet. Just announced is a massive bill headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers – who’ll be playing exclusively at Big Day Outs across the country (ie: no sideshows so BDO is where it’s at, fans) and The Killers – who return with a new album out soon.
Also on the impressive list are a host of BDO virgins Animal Collective, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band Of Horses and (sticking with a horsey theme), Foals.
The Boiler Room will be hotter than ever, headlined by dance-punk radicals The Bloody Beetroots, as well as playing host to the credible likes of Kaskade, Crystal Castles, Morgan Page, and Sampology.
Oh, and people of Perth and Adelaide, do not panic, the full show will be coming to you this time – no cop-outs from artists too scared to fly the extra few miles; instead an army of ever-ready rock, pop, hip-hop and dance artists treating every capital city with equal respect.
There are two ticket options this year, both all-inclusive so none of that extra carbon off-set, booking fee or credit card surcharge palaver. Pay $165 for one of the biggest festivals to travel Oz in 2013, or $265 for a ‘Like A Boss’ ticket that’ll get you into a cool new area called the Oasis.
See venue information for Big Day Out 2013 below, and be quick: tickets go on sale Thursday 19 July from 7pm AEST.
A limited number of Holographic Souvenir Big Day Out tickets are available from 8am Monday 16 July from select General Pants Co. stores with each ticket going in the draw to win a trip for two to the world famous Lollapalooza festival in Chicago happening this August 3-5 (yep, that’s in two weeks so have your passport ready).
