George Michael has had to cancel the entire Australian leg of his ‘Symphonica’ tour due to health concerns, and while ticketholders Australia-wide are being offered full refunds, close friend Elton John has stepped in to fill his Perth Arena spot on October 10. The Elton concert will be the inaugural event held at Perth’s grand new entertainment venue.
Michael was admitted to an Austrian hospital in December last year due to a serious case of pneumonia and the pressure of recent performances in the UK has lead to concern that he wouldn’t be able to perform his full Australian leg.
Says the singer, “Unfortunately I seriously underestimated how difficult this year would be and although I was right to believe that the shows would bring me great happiness and that my voice would recover completely, I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December.”
Perth ticketholders will be invited to have their money refunded or to hold onto their tickets and will be notified by Ticketek of the procedure to attend the Elton concert.
Those who purchased tickets by credit or debit card will have a full refund automatically processed (allow 10 working days for the refund to be listed on your statement). Those who purchased tickets by cash or EFTPOS will receive a cheque for the full refund amount in the post.
Tickets do not need to be returned but will not be valid for any other event.
