Doco looks at life after porn
Most documentaries hone in on the rustic and the raw, from serious David Attenborough-style wildlife docos to bare-bone fact-inflected films like those by Michael Moore. So it’s refreshing to see a shiny-shiny doco that examines the lives and careers of some of the biggest names in – cue tacky music – the porn industry.
Already having reached a hundred million homes in downloads, After Porn Ends has dominated the top Documentary and Independent film spots on Digital Download and On Demand.
It’s a fast-moving and sometimes even heartfelt documentary that looks at the ups and downs of what happens to stars once they’ve left the adult entertainment business tried to resume “normal” lives. The film includes interviews with 13 former porn stars, many legendary in their own right.
Don’t diss what at first looks like a quickly slapped together documentary on an industry that has often kept hush about its harsh reality. After Porn Ends is really rather riveting viewing. Just don’t expect any money shots here…
