Complete with deconstructed lowercase lettering in their name and Instagram-like publicity photos, The xx is are on the mark when it comes to absolute hipness. But the UK trio are also darn good at making innovative music that might best be described as “brooding Brit pop”.
News today is that the band will return to Australia in April to play a series of intimate gigs, kicking off on Tuesday 2nd April at Metro City, Perth, then Thursday 4th at Festival Hall, Melbourne, Sunday 7th at Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, and Tuesday 9th at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
Fans can expect live delivery of plenty of aural delights as the band play songs from their highly praised self-titled debut, the brilliant sophomore effort Coexist along with sneak peeks from their new LP.
To coincide with the tour announcement, The xx’s new single Sunset is now at radio and available online. Watch the band perform Sunset live here. And hear Jamie xx’s interesting edit of the track here.
