Ja’mie breaks online viewing record; releases debut single

She’s the bitchiest school girl on Australian television – scrap that, international television – and it seems we just can’t get enough of her quips. Actually, she’s not really a girl at all, but Chris Lilley’s incorrigible incarnation, Ja’mie King, is definitely the queen B of TV at the moment thanks to the hilarious comedy Ja’mie: Private School Girl.

Not only is the show going great guns on the ABC, it has registered a huge amount of hits on the net – with 810,000 plays for episodes 1, 2 and 3 on ABC TV’s catch-up viewing platform iview.

The six-part series, which first premiered on Wednesday October 23, has broken all existing viewing records for iview – making it the biggest show on the platform since its launch in 2008.

Ja’mie: Private School Girl continues every Wednesday at 9pm on ABC1 or you can catch-up on iview shortly after.

News just to hand, too, is that Ja’mie has released her first ever single, the song we keep hearing on the show – Learning To Be Me. The, er, heart-warming lyrics reflect on a school girl’s trials and tribulations (all that texting can get stressful, you know).

The single is available from today on iTunes, Google Play and all good digital music services.
