Lorde, who is smashing the music charts right now, has been confirmed to perform at this year’s ARIA Awards on Sunday 1 December. The news comes off the back of the singer’s unprecedented 25-minute (!) set on the David Letterman Show earlier this month.
While various people may think Lorde hails from the US, Canada, heck, some even assume she’s from Scandinavia what with her somewhat kooky sound, the girl is actually New Zealand born and bred.
Here are some impressive stats about the girl: she is the first New Zealander to have a number one single on the US Billboard chart and the first to top Billboard’s Alternative Charts in a decade and a half; she was named TIME magazine’s most influential teen of 2013; has won five awards at the NZ Music Awards; and her singles ‘Royals’ and ‘Pure Heroine’ have gone platinum while the catchy track ‘Team’ has gone gold (view the video on our home page).
Tickets to this year’s ARIAs have sold it, but you can catch all the action on GO! this Sunday night.
Lorde is also performing at St Jeromes Laneway Festival at Fremantle Esplanade on February 8, 2014.
