Melbourne gets a major dedication to by local musos

Who better to pay tribute to Melbourne than its very own musos (and a couple of interstaters who just happen to love the city).
The Bank of Melbourne’s ‘Melbourne Music Bank’ returned in July this year, offering aspiring artists an opportunity to break into the music industry by submitting a song inspired by Melbourne itself.
Prizes awarded to the winner include a video clip by filmmaker Wilk, public relations and marketing advice, two days of recording at Sing Sing Studios, album artwork, along with 500 CDs pressed, and the prospect of having the winning song featured in a Bank of Melbourne ad campaign.
The 12 finalists are Alex Brittan, Davies West, Boyeur, Heloise, Matt Walters, NY, Richard Cashion, Rick Steward, Selki, The Lion, This Public Life and Under The Arch.
Their submissions span numerous genres such as folk, hip-hop, rock, pop and instrumental. The artists will be narrowed down to four semi-finalists by the public’s vote, with the final four then going on to perform at the Melbourne Recital Centre in front of a specialist panel. And this is when the big winner will be decided.
Give each of them a whirl and vote for your favourite – oh, and your vote will give you the chance to win awesome prizes including iTunes vouchers, a hot air balloon ride with indie pop/rock icon Ella Hooper, plus Melbourne Recital Centre tickets.
You can listen to the 12 songs and cast your vote at www.bankofmelbourne.com.au/melbmusicbank.
Voting closes October 12 so get in quick!
