'Twin Peaks' director David Lynch to visit Australia

He’s one of the oddest auteurs in show business (that’s ‘specialist director’ to you). A guy who took prime-time expectation and turned it on its head, leaving the rest of us scratching ours. Through his hit TV series ‘Twin Peaks’ he unleashed an army of strange characters into our living rooms: backwards-talking dwarves, supernatural giants, malevolent spirits, and a mystic diviner who carried a log everywhere she went. We’re talking, of course, about kooky television and film director David Lynch, who will be visiting our shores next year to present an exhibition of his art – and we’ve gotta tell you, there’s a heck of a lot of it.

The exhibition, dubbed ‘David Lynch: Between Two Worlds’, is being put on by Brisbane’s Gallery Of Modern Art and will run from March 14, 2015.

It will feature rare paintings and drawings created by Lynch in the mid ’60s, along with lithographs, spooky photos of “factories and nudes”, recent large-scale paintings, and a complete retrospective of his film, music, video and TV work.

True fans of the guy’s art will be ecstatic to learn that Lynch will be hosting conversations to answer many a burning question, like, who really did kill Laura Palmer? But then, he might just keep that a secret for us to discover in the new “limited” series of ‘Twin Peaks’ currently being produced.

BTW, this year sees Twin Peaks celebrating its 25th anniversary. Happy birthday, then, to the kickstarter of twisted television.  Antonino Tati

Laura Palmer

Laura Palmer, dead from the very first episode of ‘Twin Peaks’ but by the original series’ end, still her death was a mystery.
