Sydney Swans suit up in style

Swans @2x

There are two key events when footballers get to don suits. One: when they’re heading to an awards ceremony, WAG girlfriends in arm, cheesy smiles at the ready for a snap on the red carpet. Two: when they’ve been summoned to court, caught out doing something they oughtn’t be doing (hello Ben).

Now there’s a third strain in the footballers-in-fine-threads trend – fashion marketing, with Sydney Swans players recently suiting up to feature in an advertising campaign for smart fashion label Farage (and looking all very Entourage for it).

Kurt Tippett, Jarrod McVeigh, Ted Richards and Josh Kennedy star in the latest promo images for the Sydney-based label’s latest campaign, with designer/owner John Farage saying the players “represented the durability of the high performance suiting well”.

“How best can you showcase a performance suit than [through] top-of-the-league sporting guys?” Farage told Sydney rag The Daily Telegraph this week. “It’s the perfect fit for our brands to align.”

He went on to tell media, “We knew the guys would be great Farage ambassadors and as a fan I’ve been keen to kit them out for a while. The Swans are extremely well regarded right across the AFL community and I’m excited to be in a position to build on this partnership for many seasons into future.”

We’re not sure how comfortable throwing a footy around in a suit is (and, yes, the campaign features such shots) but somehow the images work in the name of good old-fashioned PR.  Antonino Tati
