The compact Pure Pop digital radio range pack a powerful punch

It’s been six years since digital radio was introduced in Australia and the popularity of the medium is currently the highest it’s ever been.
Along with this trend comes a host of cool-looking, quality-delivering hardware, and one such device is the very handsome but oh-so compact Pure Pop digital radio with Bluetooth.
The beauty of the Pure Pop radio is in its simplicity, with a large button on the top of the devise simply pushed to turn on or off.
The device does an instant scan for digital stations thanks to a nifty Autotune function, and of course it allows you to set presets.

The clever vertical design means the Pure Pop takes up less precious space in your kitchen, bedroom, living room or office, while a large clear clock display tells you where the time’s at. Oh, and there are more power options than the norm: mains power, the use of alkaline batteries versus rechargeable batteries or make the most of an eco-friendly rechargeable ChargePAK.
Best of all is a Bluetooth feature, available in some models, allowing you to stream your own tunes from your MP3 device and giving you the option to stream programs such as Spotify, Pandora or Radionomy.
Since digital radio’s launch in late 2009, the total number of DAB+ devices in the market has blown to well over two-and-a-half million.
Let’s just say we’re very content that of these is the new Pure Pop digital radio with Bluetooth. It gets five stars for: quality audio, minimalist aesthetics, ease-of-use, affordability and, well, its handsomeness! Antonino Tati
The Pure Pop range starts from $99 for the Mini, $129 for the Midi ($149 with Bluetooth), and $179 for the Maxi. Check out the range at www.pure.com/au or at JB Hi-Fi.
Note: On an aesthetic front, digital radios are typically designed to look old-school for a bit of a ‘vintage’ touch. The irony is that there is a far broader variety of music and information available via this new medium.
