Prepping for Perth Fashion Festival

Now in its 17th year and backed by major sponsor, Telstra, Perth Fashion Festival has evolved into one of Australia’s premier fashion events, helping foster talent in Western Australia while also attracting names from over east wanting to know what all the fuss is about.
Perth has long been known as a fertile breeding ground for fashion, presenting to the rest of the world not only brilliant designs (from the classic cuts of Aurelio Costarella through to the avant-garde creations of Zhivago) but superlative modelling talent (Gemma Ward, Nicole Trunfio and Megan Gale, to name a few).
Taking place between 15-20 September, this year’s festival boasts a huge calendar of events, some ticketed, some free.
Runway highlights include the WA Designer Runway shows, a Myer Fashion Lunch, and a free event called Restyle Runway which celebrates all things op-shopping. There’ll also be a Sunday Best Market featuring stalls from WA creatives, free styling workshops, and a cultural program dubbed ‘WA Born’ with its focus on emerging designers.
In a WA runway debut, iconic Australian designer Akira Isogawa will showcase his Spring/Summer and Archive Rework 2015 Collection, embodying 25 years of his work and resulting in contemporary yet timeless pieces. A must-see on any fashionista’s wish-list.
