The Last Witch Hunter – the nastiest bitches seen in cinema in a long time

The Brothers’ Grimm meet 21st Century New York – and Vin Diesel comes along for the ride.

The Last Witch Hunter is the new action-packed fantasy flick featuring the Fast and Furious, with glimpses of a more traditional Medieval setting as a background for our hero than he is used to.

Diesel dresses the comfortable costume of the lone soldier, an immortal witch hunter – all cool acts and savvy moves. Like all heroes, he’s got a couple of nemesis, trusty sidekick and possible romantic interest. All the elements of fairy tales and fantasy are set in motion and given a postmodern twist.

The last witch hunter is a solid big-screen movie, like we haven’t seen since the late 1980s: an entertaining action/fantasy that delivers on its promise and hype.

Granted the actors are somewhat typecast (I kept waiting for Rose Leslie to say her famous line “You know nothing… Kaulder”, and Vin gets a very sporty car to drive while Michael Caine still looks like his Batman butler), everyone plays their part well.

The special effects are on point and so is the plot – enough to satisfy the throng of action-comic addicts familiar with this kind of period-meets-modern graphic text.

In short, The Last Witch Hunter is a nice guilty pleasure that will take viewers on a ride from start to the end; a refreshing addition to the graphic genre but one that has not been drip-fed by a preceding comic/novel/video game/theme park.

As for the witches themselves, these bitches are the nastiest we’ve seen on celluloid in a long time!  Barbara Bertoli
