Not just another coconut water…

The coconut water sat on the top shelf in the fridge for quite some time. It arrived in the post, a litre of it, signed with the simulated autograph of Pete Evans, along with four mini ones for those ‘on the go’. Of course it yelped ‘natural’ and ‘eco’ and ‘healthy’ all at once in its packaging alone. Heck its main hue was a soothing, pale green and the words PURE and NATURAL were stamped in bigger font than the brand itself: Raw C.
But that Raw C coconut water sat on the top shelf in the fridge for weeks (long expiry date, this stuff). You see I don’t really like coconut water. Haven’t in the past anyway. I always found it was filled with floating flaky bits of, well, coconut that seemed like they wanted to cling to your oesophagus as if begging not to go to work and do their cleansing duty.
One morning after an elongated night before, with no milk in the fridge, I finally opted for the Raw C, and within two minutes half a litre was gone. Down the hatch, forced via great skulls to get down and do their natural, eco, healthy and, yes, Paleo Pete thing.
The stuff tasted so good that the next four days I brought one of each of the mini cartons to the beach with me.
[Cue ’50s-style promotional voice:] Not only is Raw C delicious and refreshing and all those other aforementioned positive adjectives, it’s made from one sole ingredient – green coconuts, is sourced and packed in a developing nation (Thailand), 100% Australian-owned, zilch in cholesterol, gluten, high in calcium and magnesium (good for your bones, good for helping to alleviate pain) and it supports food rescue charity OzHarvest. And best of all – there are no flaky bits!
Oh, did I mention it also makes a dandy ingredient for killer cocktails? Which of course I made a couple of, with the other half of the bottle that afternoon after long night before. Antonino Tati
Raw C is coconut water is available at Woolworths, independent retailers and online for around $5.80 per litre when purchased in bulk (dozen). It’s also available in Protein & Cacao and Guarana & Acai varieties.
