Shortlist for APRA Song of Year announced

The Australasian Performing Right Association, otherwise known as APRA, helps music creators get paid for their work, while also providing easy ways for music-makers and providers to legally play and copy what they like.
Each year, APRA announces its Song of the Year, and together with AMCOS has just revealed the top 20 contenders for this higly coveted title.
Now in its 25th year, the APRA Song of the Year remains an authentic recognition of local songwriting talent, and this year’s array of songs is a brilliant reflection of the diversity in Australian music – from rock to pop, country to blues.
With thousands of votes recorded over the last month, the song list features a mix of compositions by established songwriters including Daniel Johns, Don Walker (Cold Chisel) and Troy Cassar-Daley, alongside awesome emerging artists like Courtney Barnett, Pond and Jarryd James.
Members have until 5.00pm AEDST on Tuesday 9 February to vote for the song they think should take out the peer-voted APRA Song of the Year. Visit www.apraamcos.com.au for more information. Antonino Tati
