Vinyl frontier

Serious record collectors, rejoice, for tomorrow is Record Store Day, when credible musical outlets open their doors to sell all manner of music on vinyl for you: you ardent oldschool-style music lovers, you.
Hide your iPod in the bottom drawer this season. It seems vinyl is the genuine medium to enjoy music on, judging by the avalanche of albums being released and re-issued on good old-fashioned LP format.
Our pick of vinyl records re-issued exclusively for Record Store Day include the following, so get ready to fight over ’em: Air’s ‘Casanova 70′, The Buzzcocks’ ‘More Product In A Different Compilation’, The Go! Team’s ‘Thunder, Lightning, Strike’, Chvrches’ ‘Every Open Eye’ remix EP, Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘Rage Hard’ LP, Madonna’s ‘Like A Virgin & Other Hits’ in 12-inch coloured vinyl (featuring remixes by John ‘Jellybean’ Benitez – ours, all ours!), and David Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ 12-inch picture disc.

If you haven’t got a turntable already, there are stacks to choose from, ranging from $50 models available in stores like Big W, to your top-of-the-range Stantons and Technics, available from professional audio outlets. But worry about that later. For now, make your way off to your nearest record store (look for participating stores here) and stock up on the good plastic stuff! Antonino Tati
