Taste of Perth on for its third year

Official ‘Taste’ festivals are, slowly but surely, taking over the world. Already these ‘Taste’-bannered events span 22 cities that include London, Milan, Cape Town, Amsterdam and Dubai, with new additions for Paris and Hong Kong slated for this year.
Perth has already enjoyed two ‘Taste’ festivals, attracting celebrity chefs and devoted foodies alike.
This year’s ‘Taste of Perth’ promises to deliver an eclectic mix of cuisines from around the globe, with restaurants creating signature dishes in ‘taste’ sized portions, starting at $6 a dish.
Already on the bill are Perth’s Print Hall; Crown’s Nobu, Silks and Bistro Guillaume; North Fremantle’s Bib & Tucker; and Claremont’s Asado, who’ll be joined by newcomer Manuka Wood Fire.
We’re not sure why most of these restaurants feature images of their interiors on the ‘Taste of Perth’ website when surely an array of their glorious cuisine would look far more appetising.
And while even the most ardent culinary folk aren’t fond of paying to get into any food fair, tickets to ‘Taste of Perth’ are available for purchase through Ticketek.
Some might argue that in the presence of promotional banners, and in the name of fair marketing, patrons should be allowed in for free to these sorts of events where everything else has a price tag attached, ‘signature’-prepared or otherwise. Michael Mastess
Taste Of Perth is on from Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May, 2016, hosted at Langley Park, Perth. Tickets at $20 each are available through Ticketek.
