Sneaker pimps

A spacious warehouse tucked down a laneway off Melbourne’s Flinders Street, its minimalist decor hinting at the urbane style of the brand hosting the party on this particular autumn night.
A swarm of fashionistas and model-types congregated for cocktails, canapes and ultra-cool tunes.
But the real stars of the show were the new Chuck Taylor II Camo and Knit shoes – the newest additions to Converse’s hugely popular All Star collection.
Low-tops, high-tops, new textured knits, and reflective camo styles all featured, lending the brand, well, a brand new look.

But these new ‘Chucks’ not only look good, they also come with great technological features.
Something called ‘lunarlon’ in-soles help provide superior arch support and full-foot cushioning. Super-soft micro-suede lining is perforated for maximised breathability and comfort. And an added tongue and upper allow for 360-degree comfort around the ankle and instep.
So who says we wear them simply because they look good? The new Chucks not only make an aesthetic impact, they fit and feel better than their original, well, sole mates. George Karvelis and Lisa Andrews
