Who doesn’t love a good ol’ muppet? Be it growing up with Sesame Street on telly every morning, or recalling Jim Henson’s Muppet Show every night, those furry little creatures created great memories for kids – and adults too.
Following on from these shows, Avenue Q is the hilarious live production that sees Sesame Street-esque puppets rub shoulders with human actors, proving immensely popular on Broadway initially and now making a return to the Perth stage.
The side-splitting show is back on at Crown Theatre for a strictly limited season this November, bringing audiences an event that is part flesh, part velcro and felt, but packed with heart.
But don’t think this is some kid puppet show. Be prepared to be transported into a world of debauchery, where puppets and humans mingle with gregarious consequences. From sexual congress, failed childhood stardom and excessive drinking to finding your purpose in life, Avenue Q hilariously navigates the human condition from a puppet’s perspective.
See it… and weep with joy. Antonino Tati
‘Avenue Q’ is on at Crown Theatre, Perth, from 26 November to 10 December. For tickets visit www.ticketmaster.com.au.
