Gimme some truth
A decade after he brought climate change into the heart of popular culture with his Oscar-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore returns with a rousing follow-up, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, that shows just how close we are to an energy revolution.
To coincide with its release, the man himself will be on hand to present the documentary at two special screenings, in Sydney and Melbourne, live and in the flesh.
The documentary follows Gore as he tirelessly travels the world training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy. Audiences also get to go behind the scenes – to catch Gore in moments private and public, funny and poignant – as he pursues the inspirational idea that while the stakes have never been higher, the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion.
Given the current state of U.S. politics, tackling the issue of climate change has never seemed so important. With that in mind, let’s hope Gore’s pleas do not fall on deaf ears. Chris Prindiville
‘An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power’ will be released across Australia on August 10.
