On paper, it looks like a patchy collection of acts dug from the archives of Eighties pop, but on stage it ought to work really well.
Sharing the bill in one of the more eclectic retro tours, heading to your capital city later this year, are Culture Club, Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins, the Eurogliders and, for fortunate concert-goers in Perth, the Human League.
Culture Club, of course, only toured Australia recently, receiving great reviews in 2016, and Boy George’s recent prominence as a judge on The Voice is sure to draw even more punters to this latest gig.
George’s most popular team member on The Voice, Hoseah Partsch, will be supporting Culture Club on the tour.
An official Culture Club VIP package offers premium seat locations, a meet and greet with the band members, and entry into the after-show lounge, memorabilia and more (VIP packages start from $356pp (tickets through Ticketek).
Special guests for all shows will be Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, who’ll play live for the first time in 27 years including hits like Hold Me Now, Doctor Doctor and In the Name of Love.
Also supporting will be Eurogliders, who once again captivated audiences with their sophisticated and high-energy brand of pop. (Who could forget their catchy song Heaven?).
But it’s Perth audiences who are in for a special retro treat, with The Human League featuring on the Perth leg of this super Eighties extravaganza, who are sure to deliver a host of their own hits including Don’t You Want Me, Fascination and The Lebanon.
Like we said, it’s an odd bunch of artists brought together when you look at it on paper, but each is sure to deliver a fun and memorable musical set. Lisa Andrews
