A cool blend of contemporary & retro culture

A rose by any other name

Tropfest Rose Theme 2018 cream magazine @2x

Calling all budding filmmakers! It’s time to get your entries ready for Australia’s premier short film festival, Tropfest.

Starting on October 15, Tropfest Australia will be on the lookout for submissions that showcase Australia’s vibrancy and diversity.

In Tropfest tradition, films must be no longer than seven minutes, and must contain the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) – this year’s theme being ‘Rose’.

It is entirely up to entrants as to how they include the TSI in their film, with filmmakers encouraged to be as literal or as subtle as they like.

Every year, Tropfest sees filmmakers from all walks of life competing for the chance to be one of 16 finalists whose films will premiere live in front of tens of thousands of people, and broadcast to an even bigger home audience.

Tropfest Opening Night

The Tropfest ‘main event’ will be held on Saturday 17 February 2018, at Parramatta Park, with smaller satellite events – such as Troptalks – taking place in the days leading up to the big night.

It doesn’t matter whether you are an amateur or a pro, as long as you have a story to tell, Tropfest wants you to get involved. You never know, this might just be the start of something beautiful.  Chris Prindiville

Entries open for submission through the Tropfest website www.tropfest.com.au on October 15, 2017 and close January 11, 2018.

The shortlisted films will be screened on Saturday 17 February 2018, at Parramatta Park, Sydney, with the winner to be announced that night.
