TMZ has reported Paddock booked two rooms at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago, located across the street from the parklands where the huge music festival was being held.
Paddock booked one room with a planned check-in for August 1 and a second room for check-in August 3, with both rooms showing a check-out date planned for August 6 – the date when Lollapalooza ended.
The Blackstone Hotel overlooks parklands surrounded by Lake Michigan, and more specifically the ‘view rooms’ requested by Paddock had direct vantage points of where the main stage was, while both hotel rooms allowed for an expansive bird’s-eye view of the festival crowd.
It would have been difficult for concert-goers to have escaped any planned terror attack and ensuing chaos due to the expansive size of the surrounding lake.
Artists attending Lollapalooza in August included The Killers, Muse, Arcade Fire, Charli XCX, and New Zealand singer Lorde.
400,000 patrons attended the event, many of whom are already commenting on social media of how fortunate they were to not have been victims of what could have been an even greater attack.
