With the nominations for the 2017 ARIA Awards announced just this week, the countdown to Australian music’s night of nights is well and truly on.
In what is already shaping up as one of the most competitive fields in ARIA history, it’s anyone guess who will take home the most coveted prizes this year.
Leading the pack with eight nominations, indie rockers Gang of Youths are just one of the many fresh faces in the industry making the right sort of noise.
But the old guard hasn’t gone away, either, with Aussie music icon Paul Kelly proving he can still mix it up with the best of them, notching seven nominations, no less.
And that’s not to forget Amy Shark, who has been recognised for her stellar 2017 with six nominations of her own. Currently on tour in the US, the Gold Coast songstress is now taking her unique sound to the rest of the world.
Yet this only scratches the surface in terms of the talent on display at this year’s ARIAs. And what could be better to hear than that? Chris Prindiville
The 2017 ARIA Awards are on Tuesday 28 November 2017 at Star Event Centre, Sydney, and will be broadcast around Australia on the Nine Network.
