Wa Wa Nee lead singer dies of cancer
Paul Gray, lead singer and musician of Australian pop/funk band Wa Wa Nee, has died of cancer.
The singer had been battling myeloma, a cancer involving the plasma cells, for the past four years.
Gray and his band first garnered fame in the mid-to-late 1980s with catchy singles including Stimulation, I Could Make You Love Me, and Sugar Free.
Though regularly in the Top 40 charts in 1986/87, Gray generally shied away from public attention.
In the 1990s, he went on to produce artists rather than be the frontman, working with Tina Arena, Kate Ceberano, Anthony Callea, and Bardot featuring Sophie Monk.
Tributes continue to flow on social media from members of the music industry. Antonino Tati
