It’s the newest eatery in St Martins Centre in the heart of Perth. Its name and tradition are Hawaiian, it’s owners Singaporean, but the flavours of Aloha Poké are indeed very very Perth. And in the midst of our current fascination with all things superfood-related, the Aloha Poké philosophy is also very now.
Pronounced poh-kay, a poké bowl is a super-healthy serving of fresh greens, rice (brown or white), with a generous topping of fresh tuna or salmon prepared in one of three signature flavours (Original, Wasabi Mayo, or Spicy), Plus, customers get to choose two complimentary add-ons such as jalapenos, almond, walnut, cranberries, or even flying fish row, and a choice of superfood (avocado, chia seeds, pomegranate or quails egg).
Now that stacks up to a lot!
For vegetarians, there is the option to enjoy one of these flavoursome bowls with a nutty Sesame Tofu in place of tuna or salmon. Either way, a poké bowl is not only good for you, but super-delicious.
The bowls come in two sizes, inspired by surfer terminology; the Lil Swell for $15.90 and the Big Kahuna for $20.90.
If you’ve been to Singapore recently, you may have seen Aloha Poké outlets peppered across the city. Now the brand is expanding into Australia, with Perth being its first outpost, and more locations in the pipeline for the rest of the country.
So, take advantage of being one of the first Aussies to try this tasty power lunch before the rest of the nation catches on to the trend. Your diet will be on-point and your tastebuds will thank you for it. Antonino Tati
