They say cocaine and conspiracy theories run rife in Hollywood. Today the two themes interlace quite wildly.
Actress Rose McGowan has formally been indicted with possession of cocaine by a grand jury in Virginia, US. And she’s pointing the finger to Harvey Weinstein.
Court documents state the drug was found in a wallet that McGowan had left behind on a plane, but the actress has insisted since March last year, when the incident occurred, that the drug was not hers and may have been planted.
Her lawyer, Jim Hundley, did not comment on the indictment handed down yesterday, however he had previously written to the Virginia Court to suggest there was time for the illicit substances to have been strategically placed.
McGowan herself has suggested on several occasions that it could have been Harvey Weinstein or someone close to him that did the planting.
“Depending on when and where the wallet was lost, individuals other than Ms. McGowan had access to [it] for somewhere between approximately 5 hours 40 minutes and more than 11 hours,” Hundley said.
McGowan has maintained her innocence and has been vocal for a long time with rape accusations against Harvey Weinstein.
Weinstein is also facing accusations of rape and abuse from more than 80 other women.
According to Virginia law, McGowan may serve up to 10 years behind bars if convicted. Antonino Tati
