It’s the first time we’ve heard of it, which is odd considering it is a staple in our diets, but did you know that today is World Pasta Day?

Yep, apparently across this great world of ours, folks in the food industry have been celebrating the humble pasta on October 25 for some 20 years now!

Whether your cheeky carb fix is fettucini or farfalle, spaghetti or gnocchi, bucatini or good old mac’n’cheese, take the opportunity to enjoy a great big bowl of the stuff. Without the guilt.

The first World Pasta Day was held in Naples, Italy, in 1998 hence this year marks the 20th anniversary of the event. Various cities host official proceedings year after year. Genoa played host to a pasta expo of sorts in 1999, Rome in 2000, 2001 and 2002, New York in 2004, Barcelona in 2005… you get the gist.

This year’s official events are being hosted in Dubai, with the support of (Italian Trade Agency (or ITA for short).

So, whether your cheeky carb fix is fettucini or farfalle, spaghetti or gnocchi, bucatini or good old mac’n’cheese, take the opportunity today to enjoy a great big bowl of the stuff. Without the guilt.
