Singer/songwriter and producer extraordinaire Pharrell Williams has just sent Donald Trump a cease-and-desist order after the US President played Williams’ song Happy from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.
Pharrell wasn’t happy at all that Trump played ‘Happy’ at his political rally in Illinois last Saturday, especially since it was on the same day 11 people were killed in a Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Pharrell’s attorney Howard King wrote in a letter to the President, “On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played his song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana. There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose.”
But Trump has never been one to sync up a soundtrack wisely. Remember, this is the fool who chose Frank Sinatra’s My Way for his first dance on inauguration night.
