‘Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements’: new mobile game in the works where you get to run a major drug operation
First there was Breaking Bad the TV series, then the sequel Better Call Saul, then the movie announcement… Now comes the video game.
Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements is a mobile strategy-based game that’s planned to be given away for free in the next couple of months.
The game will allow players to experience complex moral decisions on drug use and abuse – while actually running the drug operation themselves.
Based on the world and sub-plots of the popular TV series, in which an ex-high school chemistry teacher Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) begin manufacturing crystal meth and gradually build an empire, the game will allow players to experience complex moral decisions on drug use and abuse – while actually running the drug operation themselves.
The game’s developer, Plamee, has already enjoyed success with Narcos: Cartel Wars, a mobile game in which players run a cartel, based on the Netflix drug-inflected series Narcos. That game has a current popular score of 4.7 out of 5.
Not bad for subject matter once considered too taboo to even mention on prime time.
