A cool blend of contemporary + retro culture

Trey Parker and Matt Stone of ‘South Park’ fame send their radical ‘Book of Mormon’ to Perth

Money, politics and religion. Those were the three things you weren’t supposed to talk about in public. Now it seems they’re the only subjects that matter when it comes to coming up with a decent bit of theatre. Musical theatre that is.

While Rent had money issues covered, and Hamilton took care of politics, the religion thing was picked up by Broadway in The Book of Mormon and turned into a huge hit.

Now the Tony®, Olivier®, Grammy® and Helpmann® award-winning show will take to the stage at Crown Theatre, Perth from September 3rd for a limited season, following successful stints in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone – the dudes behind the very cheeky animated series South Park – The Book of Mormon centres around two American Mormons who go to Uganda, Africa, with the aim of converting natives to their strict religion. It’s packed with enough innuendo, inside jokes and indecency to see it selling out worldwide.

Indeed, the production has been performed on three continents and won over thirty international awards, seeing it smash box office records in New York, London, Melbourne, Sydney and other cities.

First time in Perth, but as they say, it’s never too late…
