Kapow: Active-wear for guys that double up as cool clubwear
When I was a kid, boys wore jeans and girls wore skirts. As I began to go nightclubbing in my late teen years, guys and girls were mixing fashions up. But rarely did a guy look great in a pair of leggings, unless he was putting on a show at some seedy bar or techno-thumping venue, or – since I’m an open-minded guy – at the occasional drag show in my living room (thank you, Pashmina!).
Nowadays, fashionable guys can not only look great (read: spunky, sexy, ready for action and/or sports), he can feel great, thanks to technological advances in legging design and manufacturing.
Introducing Kapow meggings: spunky, sexy, sporty wear for men, and indeed short for leggings. Yes, I know they’re designed to stand out and feel comfortable on the sprinting track, or for doing the rounds of your local park, but when I spotted the fluoro velcro patches on a pair of Kapow Sonic Boom meggings, I figured they’d make for excellent clubwear.
Available in a bright array of colours and styles, along with a wide range of neutral colours with brilliant patches, these pants aren’t recommended for the humble.
No joke, I once wore a pair of skin-tight pants to a Mardi Gras in Sydney made fully of holographic sequins, so seeing Kapow meggings to me are actually fairly pared-back in design.
That said, you can dress them up (especially if you’re gender-bending on stage), or dress them down with a black tank, tee or polo. Then kick back and wait for the compliments on how cool they are.
