The Forbes Entertainers Rich List was announced this morning, listing musicians, actors, authors, TV personalities and sports stars who’ve made the most money over the past 12 months.
Taylor Swift hit the top spot, having pocketed a cool USD 185 million in the past year.
This makes Swift the first music artist to take the Forbes lead twice.
It’s the second time the singer has come in at number one, having previously ruled the roost in 2016. This makes Swift the first music artist to take the Forbes lead twice.
Swift’s nemesis, Kanye West, came in at number 3, earning USD 150 million, with lipstick queen Kylie Jenner (and Kanye’s half-sister-in-law) sandwiched between them at number 2, hauling in an estimated USD 170 million.
Jenner’s half-sister Kim Kardashian placed 26th, and pocketed USD 72 million in the past year (our own Chris Hemsworth beat Kim by USD 4.4 million, placing 24th).
Out of sports stars who made this year’s Rich List in entertainment, soccer player Lionel Messi was the highest paid, roping in USD 127 million and kicking about at number 4. USD 27 million of Messi’s income comes from product endorsements including sponsorship deals with Adidas, Gatorade, Pepsi and Huawei.
One of the surprises in this year’s top 100 were dance band The Chainsmokers who came in as the 67th richest entertainment entity, earning USD 46 million. Now that’s a heck of a lot of DJ-ing…
Among the old-school artists who managed to crawl into the top 10 were The Eagles coming in at number 8, beating out the likes of Elton John and ex-Beatle, Paul McCartney. The Eagles earned a whopping USD 100 million (whopping for a band of ol’ codgers, that’s for sure).
Others skidding into the top 20 included Roger Federer, Howard Stern, J.K. Rowling, LeBron James, and Jay-Z and Beyonce, who tied at number 20 via their marriage and business alliances (an estimated USD 81 million each).
