Taylor Swift lets the world know she’ll be backing Joe Biden in the U.S. presidential election

Taylor Swift has announced she will be backing Democratic nominee Joe Biden when it comes to voting for the US presidency this November, while she has also given the proverbial tick to his running mate, Kamala Harris.
Swift proudly endorsed Biden on Twitter yesterday, saying, “So apt that it’s come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting @KamalaHarris by yelling at the tv a lot.”
The pop star also said in V Magazine‘s ‘Thought Leaders Issue’ that she hoped her vote for the Biden-Harris ticket will help commence the nation’s “healing process”.
Swift wished to clarify to her fans that Biden’s message is one of healing, advocating for women, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people of various races and creeds.
“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognises that people of colour deserve to feel safe and represented; that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies; and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” she told the magazine.
Two months ago, the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer criticised President Donald Trump and the ongoing threat of Covid-19.
“Donald Trump’s ineffective leadership gravely worsened the crisis that we are in, and he is now taking advantage of it to subvert and destroy our right to vote and [to] vote safely,” she wrote in a Tweet on August 15, continuing with: “Request a ballot early. Vote early.”
Swift is one of the few celebrities who has regularly been public about her political sway, and it appears she isn’t afraid of losing followers in the US’s more, shall we say, backward states.
Joe Biden publicly thanked Swift for her endorsement on Twitter.
