A cool blend of contemporary & retro culture

Someone is selling the last slice of Sizzler Cheese Toast on Marketplace for a thousand bucks and I feel sick in the stomach…

Some genius cunning con-act is selling what they claim to be the last slice of Sizzler Cheese Toast on Facebook Marketplace, setting their price at $1,000.

User Emily Cox posted a sale item today titled ‘Last Piece of Sizzler Cheese Bread’ at a going price of 1k, perhaps not realising it’d probably grow mouldy in a day or two unless the buyer intends to coat it in varnish.

Cox, who is also a member of ‘Buy and Sell Perth’ and ‘Bin Isolation Outing’, is a highly rated seller on Marketplace and has gone to great lengths to promote her ‘valuable’ slice of T.

“Can be reheated in oven, or kept frozen to show future generations. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY!”, she writes.

But wait, there’s more… Cox describes the item as “Nicely thick cut bread, fantastic batch, only 1 more piece available.”

“Sizzler may be shutting down,” she says, “but you will always have a piece of its heart.”

And a nice side of heartburn, I’m sure.

FOR PEEPS WHO TRULY MISS SIZZLER’S CHEESE TOAST, HERE’S A NIFTY RECIPE TO MAKE IT IN A JIFFY AT HOME:

Ingredients

  • 8 x slices thick white bread – frozen
  • 200g butter softened
  • 100g parmesan cheese – grated
  • Cooking oil spray

Method

  1. Mix butter and parmesan cheese together until smooth and well combined.
  2. Spread a good thick coating of the mixture on one side of the bread.
  3. Pop bread back into the freezer.
  4. Heat a frying pan to medium and spray with cooking spray. Lay the cheese toast in the pan – butter side down – and cook until the top side is defrosted and the face side is golden.
  5. Allow to cool a little, then stuff chunks of good stuff into your mouth.
