A cool blend of contemporary & retro culture

BarbieQ and Co sizzle again in decadent drag style

With lashings of witty banter and glamour, drag diva BarbieQ returns with fierce force to various Fringe stages. My pick to see this year was the award-nominated Drag Diva Spectacular: the Love & Pride edition.

It’s a production featuring five of Perth’s most fabulous drag queens, led by award-winning producer and performer BarbieQ, of course.

Pop music lip syncing has never been so electrifying, with BarbieQ and her dedicated drag queens all highly energised, effervescent, bedazzled and gloriously glittered up.

Always positive with supercharged force and a fierce wit, this hostess and her troupe of divas capture the true essence of Fringe, presenting the art of drag at its upmost best.

A nod to Karl Kayoss who was a surprise sight in drag, and to the two spunky support dancers who graced the stage with effortless acrobatics while literally supporting our drag artists to dazzling heights.

At every BarbieQ show, the audience is in raptures of laughter and applause. Indeed, the shows sell out for good reason. If you happen to try for tickets and miss this one, I highly recommend catching one of the producer/performer’s other shows: Madonna: The Diva The Icon, The Circus, or the larger-than-life tribute A Dolly Parton Spectacular.
