Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality Conference & Expo on in Perth this month

Gamers get excited because the XR:WA Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality Conference and Expo is on over the course of July 20-23 at the WA Museum Boola Bardip in the Perth Cultural Centre. Phew, that was a mouthful! But we promise you, it’s exciting stuff.

Immerse yourself in the spheres of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and gaming at the fifth annual conferene and expo, curated by the team behind the Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

XR:WA is the most comprehensive assembly of VR and AR experiences the state has seen, and it surpasses any other of its kind in Australia, merging digital exploration with interactive events and providing vibrant networking opportunities.

“We love working in this area of powerful convergence of all media forms,” says Festival Director Richard Sowada. “Through our collaborations … we’ve seen the real power of these immersive forms including [gaming].”

Prepare to be inspired by a plethora of local and international VR and AR works, keynote presentations, and immersive demonstrations spanning the realms of art, entertainment, education, training, scientific research and business.

Some of the must-see VR experiences include: ‘Shadow – an immersive experience that lets you pilot a mosquito bomber plane in the Royal Airforce in 1945, flying in formation towards a unified target – the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen, and ‘Ghost Cam’ – a haunting VR exploration game where you’re tasked with ghost hunting within an eerie, abandoned room that morphs into a disorienting labyrinth of dread.
