Supermodels Naomi, Cindy, Linda and Christy reunite for September ‘Vogue’ cover feature

Four famous supermodels of the 1990s have reunited to feature on the cover of Vogue‘s September issue and, of course, they look a-mazing.

Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista feature on the cover of the new issue of Vogue and speak candidly in an inside feature, recounting the days when fashion was less of a dirty word and more of a fabulous lifestyle, as well as commenting on aspects of the #MeToo movement. None of the women say they actually experienced abuse in the fashion industry.

Says Christy Turlington on the subject of abusive photographers, “I felt like my career took off pretty quickly, so maybe there were more eyes on me and they couldn’t get away with stuff. But I don’t even think it was that: predatory people are predatory people.”

The women – affectionately dubbed ‘Supers’ and doing away with the ‘model’ bit, at least in title – pose in a cross-generational wardrobe that includes mini skirts, shoulder pads, skinny ties and pumps – with each look as effervescent as the next.

Personally, I’d have gone with one of the more dynamic images for the cover instead of the dressed-for-nanny’s-funeral look opted by the magazine’s editors.

While the aforementioned fashion pieces might make you think this was a full retro affair, the fashion, shoes and accessories are fresh off the runway and include the likes of Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Manolo Blahnik and De Beers.

The women, each now in her 50s, reportedly took to the shoot like pros but acted pretty much like schoolgirls on-set – lip-synching to early Madonna and Cyndi Lauper songs and recalling naughty stories of yesteryear. Girls just wanna have fun, indeed.

Photographer Rafael Pavarotti took the photographs and has done as masterful a job of capturing these beauties as the legendary likes of Annie Leibovitz and Peter Lindbergh.
