Stunning display of flowers in the heart of Perth to be upcycled

At the start of the month, the iconic PERTH sign at Yagan Square in the CBD was transformed into a vibrant display of native and fresh flowers to celebrate the Spring and Djilba seasons.
As the landmark returns to its former glory on Wednesday 20 September, the flowers will not be wasted but passed on to passersby who will receive a free bouquet of West Australian wildflowers and blossoms (while stocks last, of course).
Coinciding with Breast Cancer Care WA’s annual street appeal, recipients are encouraged to pay it forward with a gold coin donation to the volunteer collectors, stationed throughout Yagan Square for IGA Purple Bra Day.

Renowned floral artist Clare “The Flower Girl” Cummings (above) was responsible for the beautiful arrangement which included no less than 600 banksias, 40 bunches of kangaroo paw, 30 bunches of billy buttons and 20 bunches if everlasting daisies, with numerous wattle and waxflowers throughout.
A popular tourist and vistor photo spot, the normally static giant letters have become the ultimate selfie-backdrop for one more week only. And if you happen to take a selfie at this bright spot, be sure tag #YaganSquareBlooms on social media for your chance to win a $300 voucher to dine at any of Yagan Square restaurants. Entries close at 5:00 pm on Tuesday 19 September 2023.
Happy Spring and Djilba seasons!
