THE NEW. RETRO. MODERN.

Paris Hilton is recording a new album executive produced by Sia and I’m not sure if I’m excited or sickened

This week, during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, Paris Hilton revealed she is working on a new album – her first since her debut Paris in 2006 – which will be executive produced by famed singer-songwriter Sia.

It will be Sia’s newest music contribution since her blink-and-you’ll-miss-it songs Gimme Love and Champion and the disastrous record and movie that were Music (2020). Music, the soundtrack, was a dull far cry from Sia’s previous musical offerings that lead to her writing songs for some of the biggest female artists including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus.

It’s ironic that one of the world’s greatest fame whores is teaming up with one of music’s most aesthetically elusive artists. When have you not seen Paris hogging the limelight, and when did you last see Sia’s face not covered by a big wig? Suffice to say, the results could be interesting.

Paris, 42, didn’t give much away about what the record will sound like, but she did announce that a single is being released this week, called Lighter, produced by Steve Aoki. From what I’ve heard so far, the song could have been recorded in a nightclub backroom in under 15 minutes. Judge for yourself, below.

The former Simple Life star has also released a new version of her noughties single Stars Are Blind, this time featuring trans artist Kim Petras on co-vocals.

In addition to recording a second LP, Paris is also working as executive producer for the television adaptation of her 2023 memoir Paris: The Memoir. (Redundancy is her thing, right?). The series will be developed by A24, the production company responsible for Lady Bird, Midsommar and the upcoming Priscilla Presley biopic, Priscilla, and it will be produced by Hollywood sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning.

I, for one, cannot wait to hear and see the results. Both the Paris album and TV series are sure to make for mind-melting entertainment – and with certain talent on board, there might just be a surprise quality gem in there.
