Shoes your partners wisely… Kylie’s sharp ad campaign for Jimmy Choo and Jean Paul Gaultier

It’s exciting enough when a beloved celeb collaborates with a great fashion house, but when I saw the results of the Jean Paul Gaultier / Jimmy Choo / Kylie Minogue campaign this morning, I could have broken out in some serious Padam Padam dancing.
Kylie features in a new advertising campaign for a shoe collaboration between British footwear designer Jimmy Choo and fashion master Jean Paul Gaultier, and she’s got the receipts to prove it – or at least the free shoes.

The shoes themselves are all either sharply-pointed or stacked real high – very in line with Choo’s aesthetic – and each feature tongue-in-cheek tattoo-like prints and other motifs that scream Gaultier.
A paragraph on the Jimmy Choo website reads: “The collection proposes a capsule of greatest hits, brought to life by global phenomenon, Kylie Minogue who not only has a deeply personal relationship with both houses, she also embodies the collection’s spirit of individuality and empowerment.”

Says Kylie herself, “Jean Paul Gaultier and Jimmy Choo have both been part of my fashion journey, and I’m thrilled to work with both of them to celebrate this exceptional collection. It’s our collective histories fusing, to create something fresh and new.”

Other familiar motifs evident across the many pumps, mules, and boots include corsetry-inspired detail, trompe l’oeil print, and elements of punk.
A fashion menage-a-trois made in heaven. Or clever as all hell, as the case may be.
