THE NEW. RETRO. MODERN.

David Bowie has a street named after him in Paris in the same week as his birthday and the date of his passing

Today marks the eighth anniversary of David Bowie’s passing. Yes, he died just two short days after his birthday in 2016.

Coinciding with the week of his birthday and the anniversary of his passing, the city of Paris has immortalised the late music icon by christening one of its streets ‘Rue David Bowie’.

The new street, situated between two modern office buildings – including the headquarters of news publications Le Monde and L’Obs – opens onto avenue Pierre-Mendes-France. Not far from this renowned spot are the Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower, Musee d’Orsay and other major Parisian landmarks.

The inauguration of this specially named street will include a feature music concert and exhibition this week, while the development reflects the ongoing transformation of the district, which now celebrates the legacy of Bowie along with other notable figures in history and pop culture.
