Michelle Visage to replace RuPaul as host of ‘Drag Race Down Under’ starting with Season 4

RuPaul’s Drag Race has proven to be one of the most successful, and innovative, reality television series, now with franchises all over the world, including Australia.
The aptly titled Drag Race Down Under has enjoyed three successful seasons, with winners and runners-up including Kita Mean, Spankie Jackzon, Isis Avis Loren, and Art Simone.
During the first three seasons of ‘Drag Race Down Under’, RuPaul has played perfect host of the show, but this year – for its fourth season – the mantle will be taken on by the very capable Michelle Visage.
Said RuPaul in a press statement: “It has been my great honour to bring Drag Race to Australasia. I can’t wait to see the franchise flourish under the leadership of the incredible Michelle Visage.”
This is the first time Visage is taking on the role as host in the 15-year history of the Drag Race franchise, and she has big shoes (well, very high heels) to fill.
Said Michelle, “Thank you, RuPaul, for entrusting me with one of your beloved shows. The colour, humour and outrageousness of Down Under drag holds a special place in my heart. I’m ready to do everything in my power to encourage these beautiful queens to believe in themselves and let their inner light shine through.”
Flamboyant comedian Rhys Nicholson will return as a judge for the new season, and will be joined on the main stage by a rotating cast of Down Under’s drag royalty.
This is the first time Down Under queens have been enlisted for their expertise to mentor the new cast of fierce local queens all vying for the crown.

The new season will usher in ten talented new contenders from Australia and New Zealand, who will compete for a cash prize and the title of ‘Down Under’s Next Drag Superstar’. Plus we can look forward to a line-up of celebrity guests and guest judges.
The news coincides with Michelle Visage’s visit to Australia this week as a special guest of Stan, where she will take part in a showcase at the Sydney Opera House, revealing new shows on the streaming platform.
