Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ gets the AI and animation treatment

Released online recently were the winning entries in Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon animated video competition.
Though the competition closed on December 31, 2023 (the year of The Dark Side of the Moon‘s 50th anniversary), these clips – selected by a panel that included Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, the band’s creative director Aubrey Powell, and representatives of the British Film Institute – have only just been made available for public viewing.
All entries were required to adopt animation techniques, hence it’s no surprise that AI has been used by several creators to cleverly match Pink Floyd’s lyrics and ethos. That said, even clips featuring old-school stop/start animation tie in nicely the band’s aesthetic – reminiscent of the animation seen in The Wall.
While Pink Floyd have released each clip individually on YouTube, there isn’t a compilation of them in the exact sequence of the album, hence Cream presents The Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary Full Album Video Compilation. A mouthful, yes, but also a feast for the eyes. Just remember when playing the video from the beginning that the album starts off quietly, so there’s no need to adjust your volume.
Here’s the full video track listing, so feel free to jump to any given track. Better still, light up a joint and watch it in one blissful sitting.
