Joanna Lumley to tour Australia with her varied show ‘Me & My Travels’

Forget being an English national treasure, Joanna Lumley is an international treasure. From actress to activist, comedian to humanitarian, she’s been a fixture in our media since first appearing as a model in the ‘60s, then as spunky sleuth Purdey in the New Avengers in the mid-70s. She is also an expert storyteller.

This year, Joanna will take to the road for a five-city tour of Australia, starting off on October 9 at QPAC in Brisbane, then rounding it off at the Sydney Opera House on October 22.

The show Me & My Travels will see Joanna talking about her random journey, beginning as Jean Muir’s house model and muse, moving into TV acting with stints on Coronation Street, On The Buses and Dracula, then in film as brainwashed Bond Girl in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Then, with Absolutely Fabulous, she became an absolute global sensation, cementing her degenerate character Patsy Stone into the pop cultural canon as one of the funniest characters ever to come out of comedy TV. Rest assured, there’ll be a few Ab Fab on-set stories she’ll be sharing, and between the fun and games, somewhat more sober stories also.

Later in the show, Joanna will be joined on stage by friend and producer Clive Tulloh, who will put to the star questions you’ve always wanted to ask (previously submitted by the audiences), making the show a unique and intimate night to remember.

It’s utterly thrilling to start planning the stories I can tell, and the rapture – and gratitude, to be fair – with which I shall greet the audiences … I may have to be dragged off with a hook at the end of each show.
