Who Are The Most Disliked Celebrities of 2024?

Earlier this year, lovers of comparison Ranker put the question to their readers, “Which celebrities are the most unpopular?” and the results are not looking good for some stars once adored by the masses.
From disgraced Hollywood actors to famous people who have gotten away with crime, each champion of controversy listed has unique reasons behind their tarnished façades.
At the time of writing, making it to the top of this list is Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex (but not really having any royal duties these days). Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have been making a huge point about desiring privacy but then went on a publicity spree with a Netflix documentary, a podcast, a blog and many other avenues to desperately maintain relativity in the public eye.

Instead, each of their media stints has failed, no more dismally than Meghan’s new site American Riviera Orchard (dear god), a tryhard Goop but with no good coming from it.
Next on the list is a ‘friend’ of Meghan’s, Oprah Winfrey. The one-time popular television host appears to have fallen from grace for several reasons. First, there are the tens of thousands of videos on TikTok that are dunking her; the one below should suffice for your viewing to give you the general gist.
Then there is Oprah’s silence about the ongoing war in Gaza when fans want to know where she stands. For her penance she currently appears on the #Blockout2024 list amid ill-gotten company like the Kardashians, a couple of Jenners, and even Taylor Swift.
Then there are the rumours that she is a closet lesbian – which have been circulating for eons – and followers wondering why she wouldn’t come out if she was gay, especially in the current climate of diversity rules. Then there’s her on-again, off-again promotion of dieting crazes that have got weight-watchers in a tizz. The list goes on, suffice to say that the subject matter is always of a sinister nature and far from the goody-goody reputation she was crowned for decades ago.
Rounding out the top 3 at time of publication is Prince Harry himself, whose image has been tainted ever since he linked with abovementioned Meghan Markle. It seems Markle has been influencing Harry more and more to disregard his royal duties and diss his family as ‘racist’ and ‘out of touch’.

Harry’s autobiography Spare pushed the notion that he’s always been treated as a second-hand royal while it contained some truly creepy paragraphs, including one where he discusses frostbite on his penis. “My penis was oscillating between extremely sensitive and borderline traumatised”, he writes, not thinking twice about the trauma such a description might cause readers. Harry then goes on to describe how a friend recommended an Elizabeth Arden cream that his mum (Diana) used to use on her lips, and how he’d rub it on his ‘todger’ to help it heal.
This is the strange stuff of Freudian nightmares that, really, readers would rather do without.
Meanwhile, Harry’s terrible behaviour as a party-party teenager has all but been left out of his memoirs. Harry and Meghan no longer have official UK residence.
Next is another one-time celebrated television host. Ellen DeGeneris’ reputation has been degenerating since stories started circulating about the horrible way she treated staff on the set of her daytime talk show.

Celebrities, too, have spoken out about DeGeneris’ “nice person” façade. These include Everybody Loves Raymond actor Brad Garrett, Back To The Future actress Lea Thompson, Mark Ruffalo of Poor Things fame, Susan Sarandon who disapproved of Ellen’s friendship with George Bush, and comedienne Kathy Griffin – but then Griffin tends to hate on everybody.
The Ranker list of unpopular celebrities includes several sex offenders, including rap artists Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Chris Brown, comedian Bill Cosby, actor Danny Masterson, director Woody Allen, and YouTuber Jake Paul.

Former late night TV host James Corden has unsurprisingly made the list, sitting at number 15. Corden has always had an annoying vibe about him – always trying to one-up his celebrity guests as though he were the main subject in the interaction. His irksome way of asking a question, not really listening to the subject’s answer, and then cutting in to say what he’d always planned to say in response is an example of truly bad journalism – even if it is always about a fluff subject.

Speaking of fluff, no one is really quite sure why Corden kept being asked to take part in majorly funded films when his presence on celluloid has consistently failed (except, perhaps, when he’s not actually seen, such as in the Peter Rabbit series). His role as a gay character in Ryan Murphy’s The Prom upset many LGBTQIA communities in it being not only stereotypical but just plain daft. In short, James Corden is a desperate wannabe star who shouldn’t be on the questioning end of celebrity interviews.

Other notables that make it into Ranker’s Top 20 most disliked celebrities list for 2024 include social influencer Kylie Jenner, pseudo-victim of sexual assault Amber Heard, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and pscyho-babbling rap star Kanye West. West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian also made the big disliked list due to not reading in the room in the current economic climate and relentlessly pushing her commercial product, and she even got boo-ed at a recent roasting for comedian Tom Brady.
