THE NEW. RETRO. MODERN.

Dettol once again tops Readers Digest’s Most Trusted Brands list, just scraping past Band-Aid

Dettol has scraped in at number one again in Reader’s Digest’s Most Trusted Brands Survey for 2024. The brand has scored the number one spot several times before, including in 2022 and 2023 probably because there’s just something satisfyingly sanitary about opening a Dettol product each and every time, don’t you think?

Since first being used as a post-surgery antiseptic skin wash in hospitals, Dettol has evolved to become one of the most trusted brands in germ protection around the home. Today it produces hundreds of products including household cleaners, laundry sanitisers, antibacterial hand washes and hand sanitiser products. And ever since the pandemic hit in 2020, the brand just keeps on going gangbusters.

In second position is Band-Aid, also a regular favourite on the annual list, with Cadbury coming in as third most trusted.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service has been named our most trusted charity, confirming anything medical-related often gets good recognition in this survey.

Interestingly, the Trusted Brands survey is not conducted by responses from readers of Reader’s Digest, but rather is an independently commissioned poll carried out by market research agency Catalyst.

More than 4,000 Australians were surveyed this year, representing a good cross-section of the consumer market, with participants reviewing around 70 different categories.

Other brands featured in this year’s top ten include Dulux at number 5, Panadol at 7, and Bega at number 10.

Australians clearly like to stick to tried, tested and trusted products since many of these brands appear in the top 10 again and again.
